In detail

Spruce cladding, all the essentials

Product description

Spruce cladding consists of cladding boards in spruce, supplied rough-sawn or planed depending on the version. The dimensions given suit various types of cladding and lining; further widths and intermediate lengths can be enquired about for a specific project.

With planed stock, the actual finished sizes can differ from the original sawn size. You will find more on this in our guide Sawn size and finished size in sawn timber: what is the difference?

The boards can be used singly or combined into various types of cladding. A board-on-board cladding with base and cover boards of differing widths can be built, for example.

Spruce is a softwood that works well and is used in many ways. The boards are supplied left natural and without chemical impregnation.

The boards are available freshly sawn or kiln-dried (KD). How the drying grades differ is explained in our guide Freshly sawn, air-dried or kiln-dried: what is the difference?

Also common are the terms cladding boards, shuttering boards and spruce boards.

A corresponding version in larch is under Larch cladding. Boards with a tongue-and-groove profile are under Spruce rough-sawn tongue-and-groove boards. Further boards and profiles are in the Sawn & Round Timber overview.

Areas of use

Spruce cladding boards are used among other things for roof and wall boarding, facade cladding, screening and other linings, often in garden and landscape construction. Depending on the version, the boards can also be used for board-on-board cladding, for example.

Which dimension and surface version suits a particular project depends on the construction, the installation situation and the loading. For outdoor applications, correct fitting and design detailing in particular have to be taken into account.

Origin & sustainability

The timber for our spruce cladding comes from sustainably managed forests in Germany.

Delivery

Delivery is made through various freight partners. The lead time is as a rule approx. 2 to 4 weeks and can vary according to the dimensions, the order quantity and the delivery location.

Depending on the dimension and order quantity, the spruce cladding is supplied bundled or by the pallet. Larger quantities up to complete or several lorry loads can be organised accordingly.

Depending on the scope of delivery and the vehicle used, a forklift or comparable lifting equipment may be needed for unloading. When you enquire, please let us know what unloading facilities are available on site.

Collection at our Hennef address is not possible, as only our offices are located there.

Important notes

  • Spruce is a natural product. Differences in colour, knots, texture and grain can occur.
  • The boards are available freshly sawn or kiln-dried (KD).
  • With rough-sawn stock, surface textures and machining marks typical of sawing can be visible.
  • Timber reacts to changes in the ambient humidity. Changes in size, slight distortion or cracks can occur as a result.
  • With planed stock, the actual finished sizes can be smaller than the original sawn sizes.
  • If there are particular requirements regarding appearance, knots, dimensional accuracy or surface, these should be stated with the enquiry.
  • Intermediate lengths and further dimensions are possible on request.
