Choosing timber products to suit the area of use

Depending on the area of use, different requirements are placed on the timber, the dimensions and the version. A stake for a pasture fence is loaded differently from a fence post in a garden or a plant stake in a vineyard. In our application areas you will therefore find gathered information on typical uses, suitable timber products and important points in choosing and building.

For Pasture & paddock fencing the focus is above all on robust Stakes & Posts. Depending on the type of fence and the site, stakes in robinia and oak or suitable pressure-treated softwood stakes come into question, for example. Alongside the timber species, the stake dimension, setting depth, stake spacing and the heavier loading on corner, end and gate posts all play a part.

With Horse fencing, alongside stability, good visibility and a construction causing as little injury as possible are particularly important. For fixed timber fences, larch fence posts and larch fence rails are suitable, for example. Which fence height, cross-sections and post spacings are suitable depends among other things on the horses kept, the use, the site and the construction chosen.

For Game fencing and forestry fences, timber stakes are often used in combination with stock fencing. Depending on the species of game, the fence height, the terrain and the intended service life, different stake versions come into question. With game fences in particular, fence height, stake spacings, setting depths and the more heavily loaded starting, corner and end points have to be matched to the situation in question.

In the Vineyards & orchards area the focus is above all on durable stakes and plant stakes. Robinia stakes and Robinia plant stakes are used, for example, for vine rows, wire frames, young vines, fruit trees and other support and guiding systems. Different dimensions make it possible to choose to suit the crop, the planting system and the layout of the site.

Particularly varied is the Garden fencing & landscaping area. In our Fences & Fence Posts category you will find, among other things, fence boards, fence pales, fence rails, fence posts, Bonanza and paling fences as well as further solutions for screening and property boundaries. Palisades are also suitable for bed edging, boundaries and various uses in garden and landscape construction. Robinia round timber from the Sawn & Round Timber area is interesting for numerous demanding outdoor projects too.

In our application areas you will learn which timber products and versions come into question for typical fields of use and what matters in choosing and building. Depending on the application you will find notes there on timber species, dimensions and constructions as well as, for example, on stake spacings, setting depths or fence heights. Which version is suitable for your specific project depends on the construction, the loading, the site and the requirements in each case. Via the individual application areas you go directly to the products and versions that suit them.
