Spruce structural timber, all the essentials

Product description

Our spruce structural timber is cut from locally grown spruce in various cross-sections and lengths. The range includes squared timber, beams, planks, boards and other project-specific cuts.

Spruce works well and is among the most frequently used softwoods in timber construction. Depending on the version wanted, the goods can be left rough-sawn or planed and supplied freshly sawn or kiln-dried.

This is classic spruce structural timber and not KVH (Konstruktionsvollholz).

Also common are the terms spruce beams, spruce squared timber and spruce construction timber.

Areas of use

Spruce structural timber is used in many ways in timber construction, garden and landscape construction and for individual timber projects. Depending on the cross-section and version it suits posts, rails, substructures, planks, boards and other structural timber work, for example.

Thanks to the different cross-sections, lengths and machining options, the timber can be adapted to the need in hand for a specific project. For load-bearing applications, the strength grading required and the applicable building regulations have to be observed.

Origin & sustainability

The timber for our spruce structural timber comes from sustainably managed forests in Germany.

Delivery

Delivery is made through various freight partners. The lead time is as a rule approx. 2 to 4 weeks and can vary according to the dimensions, the version, the order quantity and the delivery location.

Depending on the dimension and order quantity, the spruce structural timber is supplied bundled or by the pallet. Larger quantities up to complete or several lorry loads can be organised accordingly.

Depending on the scope of delivery and the vehicle used, a forklift or comparable lifting equipment may be needed for unloading. When you enquire, please let us know what unloading facilities are available on site.

Collection at our Hennef address is not possible, as only our offices are located there.

Important notes

This is spruce structural timber and not KVH (Konstruktionsvollholz).
The goods are available freshly sawn or kiln-dried to approx. 18 % moisture content ± 2 %.
With freshly cut timber, shrinkage cracks, slight distortion and changes in size can arise during further drying.
Spruce is a natural product. Knots and differences in colour, texture and grain can occur.
With planed stock, the actual finished sizes can be smaller than the original sawn sizes. Where the difference comes from is described in the guide Sawn size and finished size in sawn timber: what is the difference?.
Particular requirements regarding appearance, knots, dimensional accuracy or surface quality should be stated with the enquiry.

Does spruce have to be impregnated?

Our spruce structural timber is supplied left natural and without chemical impregnation. Whether additional timber preservation is required depends on the intended purpose, the loading and the construction. For permanently weathered outdoor applications, the timber preservation needed should be considered for the specific project.
